Ken Raetz is a husband of 20 years, with 4 children ages 7 to 16. A Tennessee resident for almost 30 years and a graduate of the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Ken has always enjoyed finding creative ways to solve business challenges through the use of the appropriate technology.
During Ken’s 16 years with LBMC Technologies, he worked as a programmer designing Visual Basic/SQL Server applications, became a certified Cognos consultant specializing in reporting and analytics using the Cognos ReportNet and Version 8 platforms, and eventually began working with the Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence solution in 2005. As manager of the Business Intelligence practice, Ken has designed complex enterprise data warehouse solutions with SQL Server (including Integration Services), architected enterprise reporting solutions using SQL Server Reporting Services, and has been a promoter of best practices in business intelligence and enterprise information technology organizational excellence.
With over 20 years of professional consulting in data analytics, business intelligence, and enterprise data architecture experience, Ken’s desire is to pursue a greater emphasis on helping organizations leverage data as an asset through implementation of self-service business intelligence, data analytics, and big data solutions.
Originally from Minnesota, Aaron has his undergrad degree in finance. During his first job at a financial services firm, he quickly found his knack for presenting data visually through metrics dashboards using Excel.
Putting his dashboard development aspirations on hold, he and his wife moved to Guatemala to work on the mission field. Aaron co-founded a microfinance institution and led the program to financial and operational sustainability, eventually passing it off to local leadership. During his tenure, he designed and implemented the organizational database including the general ledger. In addition, if you’re ever thinking about buying a piglet and 25 chickens to raise to slaughter, Aaron can provide you a business plan guaranteed for success.
After a five-year term in Guatemala, Aaron and his family moved to Nashville where he took a job as an operations analyst at Tractor Supply Company. As the owner of reporting and analytics for the department, he developed numerous dashboards, visualizations and reports powered by SAP Business Objects bringing new visibility and insights into several areas of the business. In addition, he developed the model for the customer-facing shipping rate calculator for tractorsupply.com.
Dave has spent 20 years applying technology solutions to complex business problems, mainly within the enterprise space, selling to large commercial and government organizations. Prior to Think Data Insights, a majority of his time was spent with clients in the healthcare industry. He’s opened numerous markets to innovative software solutions and exceeded customer acquisition and retention goals in each.
In 1998 Dave joined a small software startup where he worked in the basement with two of the owners and a black Labrador retriever. The company was acquired by Quest Software, which was later acquired, effectively becoming Dell Software. Looking for additional experience, Dave also spent time at IBM Software Group’s DOD division and enjoyed working directly with some of the amazing people in our military. From business trips to beautiful locations to simply dropping cargo out of the back of a plane at 10,000 feet with the customer, they were great experiences.
A native of the Washington, D.C. metro area, Dave moved with his wife and five girls to Tennessee in 2012, and the family has fallen in love with the Nashville area.
Information Technology was the first but not the only career path for Bernie Joyner. Following college, Bernie’s first job was in Marketing for an ISP (Internet Service Provider) based out of Wichita, KS. Shortly after, he returned to FL where he would meet his wife and pursue a career in both Pharmaceutical and Financial Sales.
Following, a move to middle Tennessee, Bernie began work for a company providing consulting work for the country’s most utilized Funeral Home and Cemetery management software. There was a need for a technical resource and in order to pay the bills, and he was asked to begin writing reports. When told he was going to have a brief tutorial on SQL by one of them main developers at the software firm, he replied “What’s SQL?”. By the end of the week, he’d written his first report and has been in Business Intelligence ever since using a variety of tools and platforms.
In the past several years, he’s provided consulting services to various companies within the middle Tennessee area and without. Since Ken Raetz approached him about the opportunity to join Think Data Insights as a full-time consultant to provide timely analytics and insights, he’s enjoyed being part of the rising success of the company and looks forward to a long relationship.
As a kid, Jeff showed an aptitude for two things: numbers and music. After graduating from Belmont University with a degree in Music Business, he pursued a career in worship leadership and songwriting. He spent almost 14 years leading at a local congregation in Brentwood, TN, serving as their Director of Worship & Communications and writing songs for the church and the Christian market.
But the numbers were still in his blood. After a short foray into web development at the end of 2015, Jeff dove headfirst into all things data. Spending hours creating aggregate functions and building reports in Excel and Power BI was reminiscent of the hours he spent as a 10-year-old coming up with die-based algorithms to simulate a Major League Baseball game. Loving every second of it, his new career path was set. He enthusiastically joined the Think Data Insights team in September 2016.
In his free time, Jeff enjoys loving on his wife and three kids, playing fantasy football (more numbers), and listening to the newest music he can find.
Kayte began her professional career working for nearly 10 years at Analytical Graphics, Inc. (AGI) – a growing software company outside of Philadelphia that creates COTS software for the aerospace & defense industries. She worked her way through college and stayed long after getting her degree in Business Administration & Management from Delaware Valley University. It was at AGI that she worked with real-life ‘rocket scientists’, managing their CRM database as well as the international training program.
Before joining Think Data Insights in October of 2016, she spent ten years at the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum in Nashville, TN. Her roles ranged from Assistant Director of Visitor Services to Business Analyst & Senior Project Manager in the Information Technology department. In all of these positions, she was responsible for CRM systems and Point of Sale databases, along with system integrations, BI reporting, and various data capture initiatives. Organizing, strategic planning, and improving operational logistics continue to be among her specialties, with a passion for providing impeccable customer service.
Outside of work, Kayte enjoys time with her husband, two children and many… many pets. Between baseball, horseback riding, Scouting activities, and spending as much time as possible on the lake, it’s a blessing that organizing comes naturally!
Spencer, a Nashville native, found his calling early as he grew up around computers and first learned to program on a TI-83+ calculator. Following this path, Spencer graduated from Tennessee Tech University with a degree in Computer Science. Having been introduced to SQL Server Analysis Services early in his career, he has been hooked on the world of data warehousing and business intelligence ever since. Now he likes to spend all the time he can learning all about the newest technologies in the industry.
Over the course of Spencer’s career, he has helped to provide solutions for a number of organizations that turn their data into a valuable asset. Most recently, he built a data warehouse from the ground up in a company that grew from less than 100 employees to over 500 in the span of two years. Spencer is very excited to join the team at Think Data Insights and provide high quality solutions for our clients.
Trey has spent the last 15 years in Healthcare, focused on Business Development. His broad product experience combined with his deep understanding of the Healthcare verticals allows him to be a trusted resource for his clients. Trey has worked with clients large and small in IT, Supply Chain, Pharmacy, and Revenue Cycle. On the Vendor side, he has worked with Device companies, Software vendors, and Consulting Organizations. Trey’s real passion is sitting across the table from his clients and discussing Healthcare trends, obstacles, and successes.
A Mississippi native, Trey moved to Nashville in 1998 to pursue a position with L.M. Berry Company. He met his wife there, and they have called Middle Tennessee home ever since. In his spare time, he enjoys golf and coaching youth sports in the area. Above everything, he values spending as much time as he can with his wife and three children ranging from 2-13 years old.
