Think Data Insights had the pleasure of serving the community in Franklin, Tennessee on Saturday, November 18th, with One Generation Away.  One Generation Away has many partners, including our favorite, the recent winner of the Data Analytics Dashboard Giveaway, Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.  On the 18th, at a local elementary school, we participated with them in their mission of “wiping hunger off the face of America!”

Through the mobile pantry, 15,000 – 25,000 lbs. of food is dropped off in bulk at a parking lot, where volunteers empty the boxes, sort, bag and package it, and then distribute all of it to our neighbors in need. All the food items distributed are both fresh and healthy choices, and are also meant to be easily prepared and cooked.

We had a blast giving away about 300 Butterball turkeys, a bunch of fresh produce, and other food. All the families with children were able to bring 10 books home with them from The Word Wagon. Mercy Medical Clinic was providing free medical service for anyone in need. What a great way to spend a Saturday–getting to participate in the love we want to abound in our community.

“OneGen puts us in front of the very people that we are helping—giving us the ability to be person-to-person in serving those in our community with dignity and peace,” says Juliana Stachurski, a TDI partner and regular volunteer with OneGen.

For every one $1 donated, One Generation Away is able to provide $16 dollars worth of food. That’s a pretty good return on investment!
