We are excited to partner with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee, an organization that was created to serve individuals and families who do not have regular access to food.
Their mission is to feed hungry people and to work to solve hunger issues in the community. Through a broad partnership with local and regional grocers, farmers, and food manufacturers, Second Harvest gathers food donations, warehouses them, and distributes meals to those in need; through churches, community centers, and schools. This past year, Second Harvest distributed over 26 million meals, through 486 agencies, in the 46 counties of Middle Tennessee! Second Harvest is also a Manufacturer of canned food products, under the label Project Preserve, and supply other food banks with affordable meals that are distributed throughout the entire United States.
During operations, they capture plenty of data, but their disparate systems don’t allow them to use all of it at once to ask the bigger picture questions. Their biggest challenge is getting food to the people who need it most, and providing the statistical analyses that demonstrate the effect of their programs and services. A data analytics solution from this Think Data Insights will allow Second Harvest to utilize their data to the fullest, and more effectively feed people across Middle Tennessee.
What Think Data Insights Will Do for Second Harvest
Think Data Insights (TDI) will partner with Second Harvest in discovery around their current data architecture and the organization’s data management program. TDI will then create a data architecture roadmap that will enable the organization to implement the policies, infrastructure, and assets of a high functioning data management program, and provide the backbone for effective data solutions such as flexible and interactive dashboarding, improvements in consumable and distributable reports, and a confidence and consistency in answers from the data. The ability to move to even more innovative and cutting edge analytic solutions such as machine learning and predictive analysis will depend on this. With the roadmap as our guide, Think Data Insights will provide Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee an analytics dashboard solution supporting the most prioritized business objectives and reporting needs. The conclusion to this effort will be mentoring the Second Harvest team on the support and maintenance of this solution.
